About Us

The “Swiss Dental Students Association” (SDSA) was established in early April 2023 through a collaborative effort involving students from all Swiss dental universities (Basel, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich). Representing the clinical years of dental students across Switzerland, the SDSA functions similarly to the Swimsa for medical students. Its primary objectives are to facilitate networking among students at the national level, encourage knowledge acquisition within and beyond the regular curriculum, and promote constructive dialogue among all parties involved in education of dental students to ensure a comprehensive and equitable education for all. The SDSA is officially recognized by the Swiss Dental Association (SSO), holds representation within the European Dental Students Association (EDSA), and is in the process of joining the International Association of Dental Students (IADS).

Our initial steps to achieve these goals include participating in European and international dental student conferences, organizing an annual congress of our own (Swiss Dental Students Convention – SDSC), and improving the networking of dental students among Swiss universities through joint events.

All clinical years from the Swiss dental universities (Basel, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich) is entitled to participate in the SDSA’s decision-making process. They can do this either through the biannual general assembly or by having student representatives serve as board members.

Executive Board

The executive board represents the SDSA externally and manages its ongoing business.

It is composed of representatives from each Swiss university that offers dental medicine. They are elected for a term of 2.5 years at the general assemblies.
